December 13th, 2013 I had the pleasure of traveling up and down the California Coastline visiting all 21 Missions. Stopping in between these Missions were lovely quaint towns and plenty of places to experience. One of those places listed below really caught my attention and what happened there has stuck in my mind for many years.
At the base of the Santa Cruz Mountains located in Los Gatos, California, sits the Toll House Hotel. A charming historic town from one end to the other. One of the most awesome places I have ever stayed during my life of traveling. Leaving my room to join a friend for dinner one evening I stepped into the elevator and I was face to face with this huge poster hanging on the wall in front of me with the following words.
I felt like it was speaking directly to me. What message was it sending? Before stepping out of the elevator several questions went through my mind.
- How far will you go?
- Will you create for yourself or for others?
- Will you explore the world around you and share all that you discover in order to help move people forward in life?
- How much will you share?
- Can you live a transparent life in front of the entire world?
- What will you do if you were now free to reach your greatest potential? Free to run the race without entanglements. Free to experience life in all forms.
- If your options were Infinite, would you?
I wonder or do I wander…
So now, almost ten years later I did wander. I have traveled to many places and have photographed a ton of birds. The stories are intriguing at times as were the places and the adventure. The problem is I never really ever shared that much on my website. I wondered if it was really all that important and of course, the question was always, Who would be interested? Turns out I do have a few fans including myself, and my tremendous love of birds and their lives.
Maybe it is now time to go all in. With a portfolio of about 100,000 photos of avian species tucked away on my hard drive, and now at the ripe age of 67, perhaps it is time to share these images and stories with the world.
I wonder is anyone interested besides me?
