As we head into the New Year it is time to end the old and begin anew. This is when I let go of the past and start fresh based on truisms in my life.
It is my opinion that in order to make a fresh start one needs to let go of what is behind them and take hold of what is ahead. This includes how I think and feel about myself and how I will organize my business and passions. I plan to share more of my knowledge about technology with my readers and the ‘tribe.’ This plan also includes my relationship with God. So what does all of this actually mean?
My possibilities are unlimited. I want to do the best I can and not get caught up in the competition game. I begin by charting my course for this upcoming year. This chart is a guideline and may be altered as circumstance dictates, however it will give me the direction so that I can prepare for the changes ahead of me. I will also plot the map for the members of the ‘tribe’ as any good captain should. As I think about the course ahead of all of us I seek help and guidance through my faith in God. My one true source book is the Bible.
I am fortunate that the key people involved in the ‘tribe’ endeavor for a high level of excellence. I have explained how their websites are key in their efforts. I have been able to narrow my niche to a certain type of blogger. You have heard me call them “creative people’ or my ‘tribe’ in past articles. It has been my dream to work with these individuals and share with them the knowledge that I have in order that they may help themselves to be fruitful in their online habits. This has not always been easy.
I was reading in a survey of Leadership readers, that communicating vision is one of the most frustrating parts of leading a local church. "It is also a task young pastors feel poorly equipped to handle. In a comprehensive 1982 study, one major seminary found that its alumni felt least prepared in their ability to get people working together toward a common goal. Apparently, putting a vision in a form that inspires and energizes is a major hurdle." I can well relate. But it is a task and a mission I intend to accomplish. How can I convince this group of imaginative characters to work together to help each other take charge of their own futures?
I don't want to sound like I have everything figured out. I am also on a journey. I don't want to sound like much of the B.S. that is online. Too many ‘experts’ try to sell their readers the perfect guide to the perfect plan.
If I write about something on my blog, you can bet your sweet bippy that I have tried it, tested it and know if it works or not. It may not work for you but that's OK. Keep in mind my whole existence is about simplicity. There are a lot of theories out there and I choose not to be one of them. I want to base my guidance on actual experience, not just because somebody said it was so. Keep in mind, they are only suggestions based on strategies that work for me. Each person will have to determine whether or not the things are a good fit for them.
So what are my plans for the upcoming year and why should I bother to expose them?
Being open and honest with myself, my readers and the clients I work with is paramount. It is also the way I hold myself accountable. It has been an inward struggle to announce my plans publicly because I know that my clients will now hold me to it.
So I decided to write a manifesto. (coming soon. look for it in the top tab)
It is my declaration of my lifestyle and work-style for the following year. I’ve learned a lot about myself as I’ve written it down. I am setting my goals in place and defining the things that are important to me. It will be my life guide into the New Year.
Any enterprise is built by wise planning, becomes strong through common sense, and profits wonderfully by keeping abreast of the facts. (Proverbs 24:3-4).
